It seemed we timed
our Back to School fundraiser just in time to match the arrival of
our real Florida summer heat. But thanks to the generosity of
Kiwanis donated tents, fans and the fact we could periodically run
into the air conditioning at Thomas/McPherson Salon, all attending
had a fun night.
Martha Stem and
her committee served up more food than we could eat and the beverage
station sponsored by Jimmy Thomas and Stuart McPherson served up
fine wines and soft drinks to cool the night. Models (lovely local
volunteers) under the direction of Christina J’s circulated selling
tickets for our raffle prizes of a fabulous Spa weekend at the
Safety Harbor Spa , a great new Region’s bike and a huge floral
bouquet.
Omar Davis, at the
keyboard, kept the crowd entertained as we wrapped up the evening
acknowledging our presenting sponsor the Safety Harbor Rotary, Major
Donor Albertsons and the event chairs Mary Doyle, Jimmy Thomas and
Patty Kent.
It was a great
kick off for our annual backpack campaign and we hope that many more
friends of the center will join this champagne for the children of
the community by continuing to donate throughout the summer.
This summer we
will be offering a fun array of classes and free learning
opportunities. If you would like to get more details please call the
center at 727-791-2939.
