Thanks to the generosity of the merchants, restaurants, service clubs, the City of Safety Harbor Recycling and  Fire Dept, the County Sheriff’s office, all the participating  community organizations  and many generous individuals, this year’s free" Green “Block Party was a huge success. With the Mayor Andy Steingold, Vice Mayor Mary Lynda Williams and an estimated 800 children and adults in attendance, our  gift” to the community was, fun, educational and a genuine good time for all.

          With the block party behind us, now all of our energy is focused on our annual Back to School Fundraiser, slated for May 31, 2008 at the Thomas /McPherson Salon. Under the leadership of Board members Mary Doyle, Patty Kent and salon owner’s Jimmy Thomas and Stuart McPherson our volunteer committee has been diligently working to put together our most successful fundraiser to date.

          With participation from the Chamber of Commerce, local businesses and leadership from food specialist Martha Stem we are planning a night under the stars of fine food, entertainment and fun with a purpose. This past year’s event raised enough money to provide quality back packs loaded with school supplies for almost 1000 area children. Our goal this year is to meet and exceed that success.

          Our first goal was to find sponsors to underwrite the event and the Safety Harbor Rotary, once again has come through for us and has offered to be our major presenting sponsor for the event. We are deeply grateful for this big commitment.  Now we want to encourage full participation from the friends of the Center with donations to support the children of our community...
