Who Are We?

We envision safe, healthy, strong and self-sufficient, families and communities.
We strive to strengthen families and children through programs that promote and improve physical, mental, and moral development.
We support neighborhood improvement through direct services and collaborative arrangements with our partnerships, local businesses, and community volunteers.
What is the Neighborhood Family Center?
The Neighborhood Family Center is a 501(c)3 non profit organization governed by a voluntary Board of Directors, with a small staff headed by a regional Executive Director. The Center is a grass roots organization which provides help, aide and assistance to resolve problems for families in need of temporary support.
How and when did the Center get started?
In the mid 1990s a group of concerned citizens formed a coalition to address local problems with substance abuse. Soon realizing that it was necessary to deal with the underlying causes of the abuse, they applied for and received a grant form the Juvenile Welfare Board to fund the beginning of the community center. Based on the premise that community problems could be dealt with more effectively at the local level than by some large detached organization, the Center launched a successful format of support services which continues to the present day.
Whom does the Center serve?
Programs are available to individuals and families within our service area, in need of emergency support and counseling. Literacy programs focused on school readiness and corrective reading, computer classes, educational services and parenting programs are also available to anyone in need.
How is the Center funded?
The Neighborhood Family Center receives financial support from the Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas County, annual financial support from the cities of Safety Harbor and Oldsmar Florida, as well as special grant support, private donations, gifts and sponsorship for special programs and events.
Where does the Center get referrals for service?
Any adult living within the service area of Safety Harbor, Oldsmar or Eastern Clearwater may come in on their own to seek assistance. With over a decade of work in the area, the Center is well known and we therefore receive referrals from the local school system, faith based groups and other community agencies familiar with our programs.
What programs does the center offer?
The center offers support programs and services which benefits families, children, youths and adults. We also offer recreational classes through a collaboration with partners. |
